Welcome to Aldeburgh Cinema Trust – Celebrating over 100 years of Film

We would like to offer you a warm welcome to Aldeburgh Cinema. Come and enjoy a film in the comfort of the beautiful Art-deco surroundings. As an independent Cinema we like to offer our customers and supporters a unique experience - with the opportunity to purchase and take in their favourite Adnams tipple, a good quality cup of coffee or tea, or some locally produced ice-creams or snacks.

The Cinema’s principal objective remains what it has always been - to provide a warm welcome and quality entertainment to all local residents and visitors to the town. Today we do this through a varied and carefully planned programme of films, live opera, live theatre, special live events and of course, documentaries.

The Cinema is a charity and its continued operation is supported by over 1,000 Friends of Aldeburgh Cinema – who receive a host of benefits in return for their on-going support. The Cinema has also diversified in recent years from running the Visitor Information Service for Aldeburgh, the Booking Office for both Jubilee Hall and Snape Maltings, who have their own booking desk within the cinema.

Looking forward, we have built up a strong education programme, working with and influencing the filmmakers of the future. We have a project running with the our local Primary Schools in the Avocet Academy; we take documentary films out to local secondary schools; in conjunction with The Red House we run a Film Summer School for young people and we have just launched a Filmmakers Award for those aged 18-25 years old who reside in the Anglia region

Our walled garden is tented, so providing a perfect venue for a coffee or glass of wine before coming to a film or when buying tickets.

Please note there is a £1.00 booking fee per transaction for phone and online bookings
Valid ID required for all age-restricted films and events
Valid membership required when purchasing Friends’ tickets
Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded except in the case of a cancelled performance
Photography of any kind is not permitted in the auditorium during performances
Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted anywhere in the building
