The master of absurdist humour presents us with a triptych of uncomfortable, fun fables including a man living without choice; a man whose wife returns from being missing-at-sea; and a cult follower determined to find a specific person with special abilities.
Each of these fantastically surreal chapters delve into love, desire, obsession and above all, human cruelty. Frequent Lanthimos collaborator Emma Stone sparks brilliantly with new recruit Jesse Plemons as they take on different characters in each tale. Lanthimos reunites with co-screenwriter Efthimis Filippou (The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer), and together they are firing on all cylinders with many hilarious surprises and delightfully nasty twists.
