Welcome to Aldeburgh Cinema Trust.
Aldeburgh Cinema Trust is a charity and independent single-screen cinema located in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. One of Britain's oldest cinemas, this much-loved venue has been at the heart of the local community for over 100 years. From the start, when the cinema was founded by Walter Hill in 1919, the aim has remained the same: to provide a warm welcome and to show the best in contemporary cinema and big-screen entertainment.
Since 1994, the cinema has been home to the prestigious Aldeburgh Documentary Festival, which every November welcomes 2000-plus visitors over three days for a programme of inspiring films and lively discussions. Created by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Molly Dineen, the festival’s previous artistic directors have included writer Craig Brown, actress Diana Quick, and film and television producer Jill Green. This year's DocFest, its 29th edition, takes place from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th November.
