My Order

The Life of Chuck (15)

Aldeburgh Cinema, Thursday 4 Sep 2025, 14:00  - ends at 16:11

An uplifting and emotional journey through three chapters in the life of an ordinary man – starring Tom Hiddleston.

Mike Flanagan adapts Stephen King, but this is no spooky offering. It’s a glorious, earnest, genre-blending gem, capturing the magic of a seemingly ordinary life. In a small American town, internet access has been unreliable, along with the television signal and phone coverage. Even the impact of climate change has escalated. Meanwhile, Felicia, a doctor in an overwhelmed hospital, reconnects with her former partner Marty and enquires as to whether he’s seen any of the unusual billboards popping up all over town. To divulge anymore would spoil the secrets and delights of Flanagan’s marvellous King novella adaptation (he previously adapted Doctor Sleep), but what can be shared is that this crowd pleaser of a film, which deservedly took home the Toronto Film Festival Audience Award last year, pops with colour, beauty and nostalgia, and features a dazzlingly fun turn by Tom Hiddleston.
