My Order

I Swear (15)

Aldeburgh Cinema, Sunday 19 Oct 2025, 17:00  - ends at 19:20

A life-affirming triumph of British cinema powered by a magnificent leading performance from Robert Aramayo, I Swear follows the extraordinary, resilient true story of Tourette's syndrome campaigner John Davidson's journey with Tourette's through his troubled teens and early adulthood.

The young John Davidson was diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome at 15 years old in 1980s Britain – a time when the condition was little known and entirely misunderstood. Initially alienated from his peers and his family, Davidson perseveres in his attempt to live a ‘normal’ life against the odds, finding some unlikely champions along the way.

A crowd-pleasing overcoming-of-odds tale, sensitively and humourously brought to life by director Kirk Jones, this illuminating character portrait is as inspiring as the man it commemorates, rounded off by a brilliant supporting cast which includes Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson and Peter Mullan.
