THE UPRISING + Q&A with Paul Greengrass

Sunday 25th October 5pm |

Please note there are no adverts or trailers prior to the screening. The film will begin promptly at 5pm.

We’re delighted to welcome director Paul Greengrass to talk about his new film, The Uprising, starring Andrew Garfield.

The Uprising tells the story of the Peasants' Revolt of 1381, when ordinary people faced up to the tyranny of King Richard II's reign and fought for justice. Andrew Garfield, known simply as “the ploughman”, plays the leader of the rebellion. The terrific ensemble cast includes Jamie Bell, Tom Hollander, Katherine Waterston and Thomasin McKenzie.

"...it is gripping and thoughtful, which should not be a surprise, given that it was written and directed by Paul Greengrass, who combines adrenaline and intelligence better than almost anyone." ★★★★  The Sunday Times

"...an underseen chapter from the true story of England, given the status of an  epic."★★★★   Financial Times

"Anchored by a terrific Andrew Garfield, The Uprising is a terrific example of the historical epic."  Screen Rant

"There’s no doubting the commitment of everyone involved, from the superb cast... to the technical craftspeople who evoke medieval England with such vividness that you can practically smell the church incense." The Hollywood Reporter

Greengrass produced and co-wrote the television film Omagh, for which he was once again awarded a BAFTA for Single Drama in 2005, and also received the Alan Clarke Award (presented for Outstanding Creative Contribution to Television) at the same ceremony.

In 2004 Greengrass directed the global box office hit, The Bourne Supremacy, starring Matt Damon. In 2008 he was BAFTA-nominated for his direction of the BAFTA and Oscar award-winning sequel, The Bourne Ultimatum.
