The film chronicles the tale of archeologist and excavator Basil Brown, played by Ipswich-born actor and Aldeburgh Cinema friend Ralph Fiennes. The film stars many Suffolk locations, including Thorpeness Beach, Shingle Street, a footpath in Snape on Suffolk Wildlife Trust land and an RSPB site called Boyton Marsh.
